The Deanes School have installed a 9.87kWp Solar PV array on their roofs.
The Deanes School is a Specialist Sports College with a commitment to putting students first and investing in staff. The School aims to create a sustainable working environment which meets the needs of the 21st Century and benefits the whole community. The addition of Solar PV as a renewable energy source is one way in which they are fulfilling this aim. They recently completed a new specially contained building which houses their day nursery, The Enchanted Wood, and opted to include renewable energy in order to reflect their green ideals. They also saw the installation of Solar PV as an investment which could enable the development of future projects.
“One major benefit for our school is the ability to introduce the new dawn of energy to students and allow them to tap into and explore other ideas of generating an eco friendly environment. Our carbon footprint really does matter to us. Reducing our carbon footprint is the beginning of reducing some of the damage caused by the exhausted use of non renewables. Over the years we will generate surplus energy which will reduce energy costs. This would mean we could push forward with other projects from the investment saved to increase energy efficiency further and really play our part for a renewable future.” – Jan Atkinson, Headteacher
