Redmoor Academy have installed a 49.75kWp Solar PV array on their roofs.
Redmoor Academy is a medium sized academy in Hinckley, Leicestershire. They expect to achieve a high standard of personal behavior where pupils care about their own performance, in addition to the well-being of others. They aspire to deliver an exceptional education. As well as the financial benefits solar PV will allow the school to significantly reduce carbon emissions. They are also able to teach their students about renewable technologies and give them the best possible start on how, what they do can affect the world around them.
Redmoor chose to install solar for two reasons, for the cost savings and for their community image they wanted to show people that they are trying to reduce their carbon emissions. The Carbon Trust approved funding enabled them to do this without any capital expenditure. It was really important to them for the long term income and savings, also for their pupils to see these savings via the web and be able to use the information in their lessons and work with STEM.

“We were not disappointed. The company were extremely professional in meeting our demand that there would be no disruption to student learning during the installation. From the moment they arrived on site, through to the end of the installation, they were courteous, efficient and met deadlines. The Project Manager ensured the work was completed on time and to the required standard. She clearly ‘understood’ schools and was a credit to her company.” – Mr A Coombs – Principal
“Evogreen are a very professional company. We got a feeling of the company working with us for what we wanted rather than what they were going to give us” – Sue Wilson – Business Manager
“I think the installation was great, it was well project managed and very respectful of working in a school environment. In the first 6 weeks we have generated 4176kwh and our C02 saving over the same period is 2.2 tonnes. This in addition to the saving on our energy bill, gives an initial impression that savings will be in line with the figures projected by Evogreen” – Jamie Owens – Facilities Manager
