Bury St Edmunds Golf Club have installed an ETA Hack 130 Biomass Boiler on site.
Bury St Edmunds Golf Club have recently made an important decision to change how they heat their Clubhouse. This decision will significantly reduce the heating costs associated with running the Club, generate revenue
through a Government incentive and considerably reduce their carbon emissions. The market research and decision was made by Mike Verhelst (General Manager) and supported by the Board of Directors. After much searching and comparing, they decided to work with Evogreen plc, taking advantage of our Carbon Trust approved funding option. This meant there was no upfront capital cost required and the savings and income far outweighed the costs, making it cost positive in year 1. As an organisation with around 730 members, Bury St Edmunds Golf Club, needless to say, requires a lot of energy and for a long time, they have heated their premises using an oil boiler. This, they have found, is not only one of the most expensive forms of heating (given the soaring price of oil) but one of the most damaging for the environment. Furthermore, the cost of oil is more than 8p per kWh; whilst the cost of wood pellets is in the region of 4p per kWh, this represents a 50% saving on cost. Therefore, the upgrading of their boiler was a necessity
“Importantly, Evogreen’s proposition blended installation expertise with access to vital funding, which means that there is no capital cost involved, and the annual savings and income far outweigh the annual cost of finance. If oil prices keep rising, the financial gains will only increase. It makes the utmost financial and ecological sense to make the move right now, for any clubs debating it ” – Mike Verhelst, Club Manager
