Blenheim Primary School

Blenheim Primary School and Children’s Centre have installed a 80kWp Solar PV array on their roofs.

The Background

Blenheim Primary School and Children’s Centre is an exciting learning community based in Southend and currently has more than 550 pupils. Children at Blenheim make excellent progress and achieve high standards, benefiting from outstanding care, guidance and support, whatever their individual needs. Blenheim is a Green Flag Eco-School and therefore, educating children about climate change and their environmental responsibilities forms an important part of the curriculum. They were looking to improve their carbon footprint whilst also making a saving on energy costs. The Solar PV installations provided a sustainable solution to meet their aims.

Testimonials

“As a Green Flag Eco-School, educating the children about environmental issues such as renewable energy is an important part of our curriculum. Now we are able to share with them the difference we are making to our carbon footprint by generating our own electricity.” – Darren Woollard – Headteacher

“Looking after the environment is extremely important to us. We always say that ‘No-one can do everything, but everyone can do something.’ Now that Blenheim has its own solar panels we are doing more to reduce our carbon footprint.” – Extreme Green Blenheim’s Eco-Committee

“With the rising costs of electricity and the potential to generate further income for Blenheim in the future, renting the Solar PV panels makes great financial sense. The governing body were delighted to be able to reduce both our fuel bills and our environmental impact.” – Don MacNab-Stark – Chair of Governors
